The gap opener comes with many ProClip vehicle specific mounts. Some vehicles have dashboard seams that are very tight. To allow a ProClip mount to attach to these vehicles the gap opener can be inserted into the seam. This will open the seam and allow the mount to attach without damaging the vehicle. This gap opener has a angled end to allow use in certain tight spaces.
